Who is Matthew?

A Foundation Built on Advocacy and Public Service

Matthew got his History degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris. He earned his Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law. During law school, he externed at Spokane County Superior Court and the Unemployment Law Project, gaining valuable experience.

He also worked with the Spokane County Public Defender’s Office. There, he discovered a passion for helping underserved communities.

Before becoming an attorney, Matthew worked in restaurants, media, and as a civil litigation paralegal. These experiences gave him insight into people, systems, and justice, which he now applies in his immigration law practice.

Criminal Defense Expertise Turned to Immigration Advocacy

Matthew started his legal career at the Spokane County Public Defender’s Office. There, he worked in misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile units. He also finished the Juvenile Defense Training Academy in Seattle. After that, he became a Senior Attorney at the Public Defender’s Office.

There, he won multiple jury trial acquittals, including a vehicular homicide case, demonstrating skill and dedication to his clients.

In 2022, he joined the Spokane County Counsel for Defense. He worked on felony cases, such as violent crimes and sex offenses. Later, he gained the trust and respect of his clients and the courtroom. He did this through focused advocacy, strong negotiation, and convincing trial performance.

These litigation skills strengthened his immigration practice, where accuracy and compassion are essential for effective results.

Joining the Quiroga Law Office Mission

Matthew joined Quiroga Law Office, PLLC, in August 2024 as part of the Defense Team. He applies his legal skills to protect immigrant families through removal defense and immigration-related legal processes.

At the firm, he represents clients in removal proceedings, ICE appointments, and interviews with immigration authorities. He helps clients face legal challenges with confidence, clarity, and well-thought-out strategies.

Matthew works at Quiroga Law Office because he believes in fairness and equal access to legal rights for all. He wants everyone to have access to justice. As an immigration attorney, he proudly supports clients through some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Personal Philosophy and Lived Empathy

Matthew believes everyone facing prosecution deserves fairness and a strong legal defense in both criminal and immigration courts. He grounds his philosophy in diligence, preparation, and respect for each client’s dignity and unique story.

His commitment to immigration law is personal. His mother-in-law lived in the US for years without legal status. Seeing her fear and anxiety showed him how broken and stressful the immigration system can be.

That experience deepened his drive to become a reliable, compassionate, and skilled immigration attorney.
