Destiny oversees all humanitarian cases within our firm. As a first-generation American, her interest in immigration law began at an early age after witnessing the challenges her father faced when emigrating from Mexico.
These experiences inspired her to pursue a career advocating for the underprivileged and ensuring that every voice is heard. Destiny has distinguished herself for her commitment to civil rights and representing vulnerable populations.
From Intern to Managing Attorney: A Journey of Leadership
Destiny Soto’s career at Quiroga Law Office, PLLC is a testament to her unwavering commitment to immigration law and advocacy. Starting as an intern and rising to Managing Attorney, she has spent over six years handling deportation defense, asylum, and EULISA processes, building a deep expertise in complex immigration cases. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, she deeply understands the sacrifices and struggles of those seeking a better future in the US. Her leadership ensures strong legal representation for individuals facing removal, while also allowing her to mentor attorneys. For Destiny, every case is an opportunity to change lives.
Roots of Resilience: A First-Generation American Story
Born in Boise, Idaho, Destiny is the eldest of three sisters in a proud immigrant family. As a first-generation American, she grew up witnessing the complexities of the immigration system firsthand. Her father’s journey through the US naturalization process sparked her early curiosity about immigration law. Watching him navigate the legal system planted the first seeds of what would later become her passion and career. Though she didn’t always envision becoming a lawyer, her upbringing shaped her deep appreciation for the struggles immigrants face and the legal pathways available to those seeking a brighter future in the US.
Discovering Her Calling: A Path Unlike Any Other
While pursuing a Political Science degree with a specialization in Criminal Justice at Northwest Nazarene University, Destiny was unsure about her career path. A career assessment test pointed her toward law, prompting her to explore legal internships in family law and criminal defense. However, she soon realized these fields did not align with her true calling. Seeking a career that combined law with social justice, she broadened her search, hoping to find an area of law where she could make a real difference. This search led her to apply for an internship at Quiroga Law Office, PLLC.
Finding Purpose in Immigration Law
From her first day at Quiroga Law Office, Destiny knew she had found her passion. Assigned to the waivers unit, she quickly realized the impact immigration law has on people’s lives.
“I saw the real impact our work has on people’s lives, and I instantly fell in love with this area of law,” she recalls.
After two years as an intern, she became an attorney in 2020. Her dedication and leadership quickly propelled her to Managing Attorney, overseeing legal operations and mentoring attorneys. Her work in deportation defense ensures that individuals facing removal receive strong legal representation, navigating the complexities of immigration proceedings with skill and compassion.
A Family History of Immigration Challenges
Destiny’s connection to immigration law is deeply personal. Her paternal family immigrated from Mexico in the 1980s, facing hardships similar to those experienced by Quiroga Law Office’s clients today.
Her grandfather was part of a temporary worker program under the Ronald Reagan administration, leaving his wife and seven children behind to work in US poultry farms. Over time, he was able to legally bring some family members, while others risked everything by crossing the border without documents in search of a better future. Destiny grew up hearing these stories, which shaped her understanding of the sacrifices immigrants make.
Honoring Her Family’s Legacy Through Her Work
Destiny’s dedication to immigration law is a way of honoring her family’s struggles and victories. Today, her 81-year-old grandfather still seeks her help with his US citizenship process, a constant reminder of the impact she has on immigrant families.
“Hearing their stories made me realize this is more than just a job—it’s a personal cause,” Destiny shares.
She approaches every case with the same dedication, knowing that each immigrant she helps represents a story similar to her own family’s. For her, immigration law is not just a profession; it’s a mission deeply rooted in her personal experiences.
Leading With Passion: Changing Lives Every Day
For Destiny, the most rewarding aspect of her career is witnessing the resilience of her clients.
“Our clients are some of the most resilient people I have ever met. They remind me every day why I chose this profession,” she says.
Her rapid ascent within Quiroga Law Office is one of her greatest achievements. In just six years, she progressed from intern to Managing Attorney, leading legal operations and advocating for immigrant rights. She continually refines her expertise by attending immigration law conferences and staying updated on evolving US immigration policies. As a deportation defense attorney, she ensures those facing removal receive the strongest legal strategies available.
A Lifelong Commitment to Immigrant Rights
Despite her success, Destiny remains committed to lifelong learning. To her, every case presents an opportunity to grow and strengthen her advocacy for the immigrant community. Her mission remains unchanged: helping immigrants build a better future in the US. She is certain she will always defend the rights of those seeking new opportunities. Her passion for immigration law is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and professional dedication. No matter where she is, Destiny Soto will always be working as an immigration attorney in Spokane, Washington. This is more than a career—it’s her purpose.
