Maria Quiroga was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and immigrated to the United States at the age of ten. That transition journey shaped her identity and the purpose behind her life’s work. Overcoming language and cultural barriers, she graduated with honors in Political Science from UCLA in 2011.

Maria externed at the United States Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles during her studies with the Honorable Julia Brand. She also worked with the Juvenile Innocence and Fair Sentencing Clinic. There, she helped represent wrongfully convicted and young people facing unfair prison sentences.

Maria’s path began as a child crossing borders in search of opportunity. “Becoming an immigration attorney was more than just a job for me. It was a calling based on my own experiences“. She lives and breathes immigration law because it speaks to her own family’s story and the dreams of countless others.

She is proud to be an American citizen. She is even prouder of who she has become as a woman, mother, leader, and lawyer. For Maria, helping immigrants with their legal paths is more than a job. A special honor continues her family’s legacy from years ago.

Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA. There, she built a strong commitment to public service and civic engagement. She continued her studies at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She earned her Juris Doctor to help disadvantaged communities.

Admitted to practice law in both California and Nevada, Maria has expanded her reach through multiple federal court admissions. Her education was not only about schoolwork. The focus was also on getting ready to make a real impact with the law.
