Maria Quiroga was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and immigrated to the United States at the age of ten. That transition journey shaped her identity and the purpose behind her life’s work. Overcoming language and cultural barriers, she graduated with honors in Political Science from UCLA in 2011.
Maria externed at the United States Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles during her studies with the Honorable Julia Brand. She also worked with the Juvenile Innocence and Fair Sentencing Clinic. There, she helped represent wrongfully convicted and young people facing unfair prison sentences.
